Aside from penguins, ferrets are one of my favorite animals. They vary in color from an almost black color to a white. They are also very cute. Aside from their cuteness, ferrets can grow pretty long. They grow 22-25 inches long. Thats about two feet. The male ferrets are larger then the females. (I think my ferret breaks that law because shes really fat.) Many people think that they look like a rats, but actually they’re not related to rodents. They are in the Mustelidae family which includes the weasel, skunk, mink, otter, polecat and badger. So I repeat, THEY ARE NOT RODENTS, let alone rats! Also ferrets are carnivores (they eat meat).
When people think of domestic animals in Egypt, they usually think of cats. But did you know that ferrets were one of the first domesticated animals in Egypt? They were often used for rodent controll. Many people today own domesticated ferrets. They are great pets to have around the house. They are very playful and intelligent. They also are knownfor stealing things, such as jewery, toys, clothes ,shiney objects and basically anything lying around the floor. My ferrets love soxs and objects that make noise. Ferrets do need their share of exercise, so its nice to devote time into playing with them. Also they enjoy toys such as tunnels. But whatever you do, don’t let your ferret roam free outside. They wander off and usually get lost. So if you want your ferret to spend some time outside, I advise getting a leash.
Sadly, ferrets are prone to many diseases. My ferret Cody recently died a couple months ago. The vetinerians found two tumors on the face, and a case of cataracts. We also believe that she had cancer. Sadly we had to put her down so she wouldn’t suffer anymore. She lived to be eight years old. Ferrets life span usually lasts 8 to 11 years. They are prone to skin tumors, ear mites, lymphosarcoma, renal disease, insulinoma, adrenal gland disease, gastric foreign bodies and even diabeties. To keep your ferret healthy, its important to take them to the vet regulary. Its also important to maintain your ferrets hygene, which includes giving them their regular bath and brushing their teeth. Its also important to maintain a ferrets weight. To maintain a ferret’s weight, its important to give them excercise and some playtime. It is also important to keep an eye on a ferret’s glucose. You can do this by taking a small blood test.
I own two ferrets along with some other pets. Here is some information on my ferrets:
Consuela- Consuela is a white ferret with black highlights. She has a cute pink nose and big black eyes. (she is so cute!) Shes about a year and a half years old. Shes skinier than my other ferret and shes alittle over a foot long. Shes very playful and hyper. She also loves to climb.
Cocoa- We named her cocoa because her coat is like a chocolatly velvet. She also has a brown mask around her eyes. (She is also very cute.) She also has bi black eyes. Although shes on the heavy side (fat) she still cute. Shes a bit lazy, but she loves to be held (especially in pockets). Shes a little shorter that Consuela. Shes about half a year old, but shes the sweetest thing.
Well its time for me to stop typing. If you have any questions about ferrets comment and ill get back to you as soon as possible. Goodbye for now ferret fans.

The top picture of the ferret looks like a smaller version of Consuela. Consuela is a little more white and has black highlights. Cute huh?
